Peru Gourmet culinary contest ended on October 25th, 2016 with the awards ceremony and cocktail with Peruvian flavours at Salle Jean-Pierre Morin, LaSalle College.
The 2016 edition finalists were: Andreza Thomaz de Lima (LaSalle College), Maria de Los Angeles Ortiz (Pearson School of Culinary Arts) and Simon Beaupré (LaSalle College). On Monday October 24th, all three finalists have appointment at College LaSalle kitchen with Peruvian Chef Ruth Ascoli from San Ceferino restaurant in Lima. Chef Ascoli conducted 2 courses in front of the finalists and they had to replicate the 2 courses in a maximum time of 1 hour.

After jury’s deliberation the victory and first place was awarded to student Maria de los Angeles Ortiz (Pearson School of Culinary Arts), followed in second place by Andreza Thomaz de Lima (LaSalle College) and the 3rd place for Simon Beaupré (LaSalle College).
During the ceremony awards, winner Maria de Los Angeles Ortiz was awarded the grand prize: a 1 week gastronomic tour in Lima which includes a visit of Lima best’s restaurants and a Peruvian cooking workshop at San Ceferino restaurant. A prize worth $ 5,000 dollars.

In his 3rd edition, culinary contest Peru Gourmet has received participation of students from 4 Montreal cooking schools: LaSalle College, CFP Jacques-Rousseau, Calixa - Lavallée School and Pearson School of Culinary Arts.
This culinary competition has been organized by Peru-Canada Chamber of Commerce in Montreal with the support of LaSalle College. Also, with the presence of sponsors as the Trade Office of Peru in Canada (OCEX Toronto), Copa Airlines, montreal restaurants Tiradito and Sandouchon, Lima restaurant San Ceferino and Agenda Social magazine.
Congratulations to all participants of the culinary contest. Soon, it will be published the travel experience in Lima, Peru, of 2016 winner Maria de Los Angeles Ortiz.
